Rs.1,376.10cr approved for widening 2-Lane Paved Shoulder from Tiruvallur to National Highway-716
Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari has allocated Rs.5,936.86 crore worth of projects in Tamil Nadu and Jammu & Kashmir.
The projects:
Rs.1,376.10 crore approved for the widening of the existing 2-Lane Paved Shoulder from Tiruvallur to the Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh border section of National Highway-716 https://www.globaltenders.com/ . This transformation to a 4-lane configuration with paved shoulders in Thiruvallur district spans 43.95 Km under Package-1.
Allocated Rs.905.00 crore approved for enhancing the alignment of the 6.6-km long Thoppur Ghat Section of National Highway in Dharmapuri & Salem districts https://ted.europa.eu/en/ .
This segment, traversing challenging terrain, has been marred by deficiencies such as sharp S-curves with a radius as low as 110m, contributing to accidents. The proposed improvements, including an elevated corridor/viaduct on the left-hand side, aim to mitigate accidents on this National Highway-44 stretch, which is a crucial part of the Bengaluru – Kanyakumari section of the North-South corridor in Tamil Nadu, the Minister said on 9 Mar.
In Jammu & Kashmir, Rs.1,404.94 crore allocated for the Widening and Strengthening project of the Rafiabad–Kupwara–Chowkibal–Tangdhar–Chamkot section of National Highway-701 https://www.meed.com/latest/tenders .
It is to be executed under Project Beacon in Baramulla & Kupwara districts on EPC Mode under Package I, aims to transform the 51 Km route into 2-lanes with Paved, Shoulder. Critical for logistics in the region, this strategic route connecting Baramulla and Kupwara districts plays a pivotal role and is integral to the development of the tourism sector in North Kashmir near the International Border
Rs.126.58 crore has been approved for the development, Operation, and Maintenance of a Ropeway https://www.nipponcable.com/en/ from SDA Parking (Near Zabarwan Park) to Shankaracharya Temple.
Spanning 1.05 km in Srinagar district, this initiative operates on the Hybrid Annuity Mode, utilizing MonoCable Detachable Gondola (MDG) Technology with a capacity to transport 700 PPHPD. This project is designed to offer a panoramic view of Srinagar city and Dal Lake, providing a safe and convenient transportation means. It ensures easy access for individuals with disabilities and senior citizens to visit the temple, reducing travel time form approximately 30 minutes to about 5 minutes. Additionally, it serves as an eco-friendly mode for transport, creates employment opportunities for the local populace, and brings economic benefits to the region by enhancing tourism.
Allocated Rs.562.40 crore for the Upgradation and Strengthening project of the Nashri-Chenani section of National Highway-244. Spanning 39.10-km in districts Udhampur & Ramban, this initiative operates on the EPC mode under National Highway (O).
Further, approval has been given for widening of 12.4 km long Dhrol to Amaran section of National Highway-151-A in Morbi district of Gujarat to 4-lane at a cost of Rs.625.58 crore.
Approval has been given for construction of additional structures including pipelines in 15 km long stretch of Vadodara-Surat section on National Highway-48 in Vadodara, Bharuch and Surat districts of Gujarat at a cost of Rs.907.39 crore.
Construction has been approved of 10-km long 4-lane elevated corridor on Kalimandir-Dimna Chowk-Baliguma section of National Highway-33 (New-18) in Jamshedpur city of Jharkhand has been approved at a cost of Rs.936.26 crore. fiinews.com
