India and Germany can strengthen trade partnership by participating in Supply Chain Management; Value Partnerships; Globalization; Digitalization and Innovation, Research, and Development.
Opportunities in these sectors were suggested by Mark Hauptmann, Member of The German Parliament, at a webinar on “India–Germany Business Promotion, Challenges, and Opportunities – Post-COVID 19”.
Addressing the webinar on 6 June 2020, he pointed out that active measures like early testing, providing economic packages and society collation were the steps that helped Germany in managing through the pandemic.
Post-COVID-19, India and Germany can look forward to bilateral cooperation and more trade and partnerships, added Mukta D Tomar, India’s Ambassador to Germany.
“We are doing business for long it is the right time for the Indian industries to build on its competitive advantage as Germany is open to Business with India,” she said.
Her Excellency appraised the relationship between India and Germany which is multi-facet in areas ranging from the environment to Artificial Intelligence to energy and others.
PHD Chamber President Dr. D K Aggarwal informed that Germany is the sixth-largest trading partner to India and Germany is the seventh-largest FDI investor in India.
Both the countries have numerous collaborations, partnerships leading to business, trade, and service exchange, he underlined.
PHD Chamber Vice President Pradeep Multani noted the opportunities present for the Indian company to collaborate with their German counterparts.
Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative to India of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) highlighted the Indo-German trade relations stating that India is a trustworthy partner for Germany.
The other delegates who deliberated in the webinar where Bernhard Steinrücke, Director General, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Deutsch-Indische Handelskammer and Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, German Engineering Federation (VDMA) India, as well as Saurabh Sanyal, Secretary-General, PHD Chamber.
The session also heard industry insights by Nasir Zaidi, Chairman, International Affairs Committee for Gulf, PHD Chamber and Vivek Agarwala, Chairman, International Affairs Committee for Africa – PHD Chamber.
More than 140 industry representatives including 40 from German companies operating out of India participated in the session moderated by Naveen Seth, Principal Director, PHD Chamber.
