GIIS students learn 21st century skills
Singapore-based Global Indian International School (GIIS) is adding a new innovative assessments and examinations solution to its technology-innovation driven SMART campus.
The solution, IntelliPAD, is conceived in Bengalore, designed in Silicon Valley and made in China, is owned by Indian origin Mindlogicx Infratec Ltd and is being marketed globally from the Singapore office.
“We are currently doing a pilot project and we are trying to see if this solution can help teachers in particular, especially to improve the efficiency and productivity,” said Atul Temurnikar, Co-Founder and Chairman of GIIS.
“Teachers should be spending less time on administrative task and more time in the classroom. Over the next two months we will know in terms of how we look at the solution, IntelliPAD,” he said.
This type of solution is very helpful as it frees teacher’s time. “I think the solution should be definitely welcomed,” he said after the official opening of GIIS’s SMART Campus in Singapore.
The IntelliPAD uses biometric and encryption technologies to overcome global rise in exam malpractice including question paper leakage and candidate impersonation, explained Suresh Elangovan, founder and chief executive of Mindlogicx.
The software encrypts the question paper on clouds with access only through fingerprints of those appearing in the exams, he said.
More and more educational institutions are adopting IntelliEXAM, including IntelliPAD, to automate and digitize examination process, said Deep Singhania, global advisor to Mindlogicx.
The GIIS SMART Campus is designed to meet the learning needs of students and develop 21st century skills.
The Campus combines 21st century pedagogy with state-of-the-art facilities to provide a holistic, innovative and disruptive
education, allowing GIIS to nurture future-ready global citizens.
Temurnikar elaborated: “GIIS is committed to nurturing global citizens who are future-ready for any job they choose. The SMART Campus allows us to expose our students to technology and disruption at every step of their educational journey from the day they join GIIS.
These include 92 digitally connected SMART classrooms connected with 2GB fibre networks, more than 40 skills-based studios, 8 SMART science,
composite and design technology labs, 4 multipurpose halls for sports and performances, and unique concepts like Student Innovation Rooms, Flipped Classrooms and Learning Commons for collaborative learning.
The SMART Campus is also equipped with technologies such as Sports Performance Enhancing Data Analytics System (SPEDAS) to enhance student performance in sports, and smart features including facial recognition to ensure safety of students across the Campus.
GIIS is going to introduce the skill programmes relevant to local demographic and requirements including its 10 schools in India.
GIIS will open two campuses in Pune and one Bengalore this year, adding to its network of seven schools in Ahmedabad, Surat, Indore, Noida, Bangalore, Pune and Baroda.
The market for good schools in India is very strong as there is a good demand for such schools.
GIIS has grown 20% year-on-year in terms of student intake in India and have 13,000 students across its seven schools since it started in 2009.
Comparatively, student intake growth is 7-8% on the year in overseas schools.
Founded in 2002, GIIS is a global network of premier international schools with more than 20,000 students across 23 campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, UAE, Vietnam and India.
It offers a comprehensive range of International and Indian curricula for Kindergarten to Year 12 students. These include the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), Cambridge IGCSE, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Global Montessori Plus programme. fiinews.com
