Hegseth notes India’s campaign to build industrial and logistics capacity
The US is committed to pursuing co-production with India to advance capabilities in defence manufacturing, says War Secretary Pete Hegseth, underlining that America was undertaking a national manufacturing globalisation of its defence.
A powerful India is modernising its military with heavy industrial and logistics capacity to sustain “high-end military operations”, he told delegates at the annual Shangri-La Dialogue held 29-31 May in Singapore.
“India is powerful and modernising its military,” he said and also highlighted that it is maintaining a balance of power, particularly in the Indian Ocean.
Hegseth noted India’s aggressive campaigns to “build a heavy industrial and logistics capacity to sustain high-end military operations.”
The secretary also assessed defence-related relations with Japan, South Korea, ASEAN and Australia in line with Washington’s often repeated call on countries in the Asia Pacific to increase defence spending and build military power as a deterrence to counter territorial domination by adversary power.
The Shangri-La Dialogue brought together top defence officials and experts from 44 nations this year. fiinews.com
