Asia Climate Partner (ACP), a green private equity, is putting together US$150-US$200 million with another co-investor in a renewable project in India.
“We are (now) looking to invest in a sizeable renewable energy company with capacity of 1,000-MW,” said the Hong Kong-based ACP managing director Anand Prakash.
He sees good investment opportunities under the Indian government’s renewable energy plan which calls for installation of 200,000-MW capacity over the next five years.
This huge programme will require US$200 billion investment, of which US$50 billion could come from PE funds, he said, adding that ACP’s focus will be on solar and wind projects.
ACP investments including US$20 million placed in cold chain operator ColdEX in March this year. fii-news.com
