Broadband have reached 1bn people, says Scindia
Telecom service providers have invested nearly Rs.4 lakh crore for expansion for 5G services, with over 5 lakh BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) installed nationwide, Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia has told Lok Sabha on 11 Feb.
“Within just 22 months, 5G services have been launched in 99.9% of the country’s districts, setting a global benchmark,” he said, highlighting that 400 million citizens were benefiting from 5G services currently, and the service will reach to 1 billion by 2030.
He underlined that broadband connectivity in India has surged from 60 million connections a decade ago to 1 billion today. By 2030, the government aims to further strengthen and deepen this digital infrastructure. Fiinews.com
