India’s High Commissioner to Singapore Jawed Ashraf and a veteran businessman Girija Pande were honored for their achievements and contributions by the IIM Alumni Association of Singapore (PIIMA) on 17 August 2019.

The High Commissioner, Jawed Ashraf, and businessman Girija Pande were both conferred “The Distinguished Alumnus” awards at a PIIMA gala dinner held in conjunction with IIMPACT 2019 conference.

Jawed Ashraf, who has an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, was recognized for “his tireless contribution to building and nurturing the Singapore-India relationship”.

Considered by his peers as one of the finest minds in foreign service, Jawed Ashraf is an expert on the United States and Indo-American relations, read the citation at the award ceremony attended by some 750 Indian business executives and IIM alumni.

Girija Pande was recognized for his contribution to the business world and the community at large.

He is rated as senior IIM alumni in Singapore and had been instrumental in setting up Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) which has expanded to 14 countries with more than 11,000 associates in Asia Pacific.

Pande was instrumental in building TCS business in China. His deep knowledge of the Chinese industry and business practices has led him to serve as the Economic Advisor to the Mayor of Guangzhou, China’s third largest city, read the citation.

After his last role as chairman of Singapore-headquartered TCS, Pande has been actively involved in institutions and was a council member for the Singapore Government’s high-powered Manpower Council set up by the InfocomDevelopment Authority.

Pan IIM Alumni Association of Singapore (PIIMA) presented IIMPACT 2019: LIFE 4.0 with gala dinner attended by Singapore’s Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing.

The conference theme LIFE 4.0: ‘How to take charge in a disrupted future and how to be active participants in shaping the future?’

Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi delivered a keynote address while international speakers gave their views on Planet 4.0, Cybersecurity 4.0, Family & Work 4.0, Money 4.0, Geopolitics 4.0 and Singapore 4.0. fiinews.com
