New plant to support Toyota expansion in India
Toyoda Gosei Co Ltd (TOKYO:7282) says its new plant in the Maharashtra Bidkin Industrial Area will produce large interior and exterior products, such as bumpers and instrument panels for the growing Indian automobile market from the first half of 2029.
The new plant will pursue efficient manufacturing with the latest large molding machines, which can automatically change molds and other setup, production management systems that utilize IoT and DX, “smart automated processes” that minimize investment costs by combining collaborative robots and karakuri technology and more, Toyoda said on 29 Sept. It is being built as a branch plant of Toyoda Gosei Group company Toyoda Gosei South India Pvt Ltd and will be Toyoda Gosei’s eighth location in India.
In addition to the compact cars that have driven demand to date, SUVs are becoming increasingly popular in India. Toyoda Gosei sees India as a key market, and will continue to establish its development and production network to contribute to safer and more comfortable mobility.
Among its Japanese customers in India, Toyota Motor Corp has decided to build a new Toyota Kirloskar Motor plant in the Bidkin Industrial Area in Maharashtra. Production is scheduled to start in the first half of 2029.
