Minister says 100 new food testing labs will be opened
Indian food exports touched US$50 billion last year and prospects are good for shipping food products to the global markets for this year, APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev said in his opening address at the 8th edition of Indusfood 2025 on 8 Jan at Expo Centre, Greater Noida.
“The opportunity is immense as the global market size is US$4 trillion and we are just 2.4% of it,” he said.
“Processed food as a segment has also great potential and our aim is to increase value added export by 40% in 3 to 4 years,” he elaborated.
The organic food market, according to Dev, is US$147 billion with India having “a very small share of 2.5%. Moving forward, we have to grow 4 times in the next 5 years,” he estimated http://mofpi.gov.in.
