SSIA-IESA to collaborate on building ESDM ecosystem
Singapore and Indian electronics industries are set to work closely in strengthening global footprint in the semiconductor sector semiconductors , especially in India which is working on a mission-mode government initiative to develop an Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (EDSM) ism .
This collaboration is being supported by a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 30 July 2024 in Singapore by related industry bodies during the “Semiconductor Business Connect 2024” conference hosted by SSIA in Singapore sgx .
This conference is dedicated to empowering SMEs through fostering collaboration and innovation in the semiconductor industry semi events .
A Singapore delegation is set to visit India in August 2024, said a press release following the signing of MoU by the Singapore Semiconductor Industries Association (SSIA) and the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA).
With the MoU in hand, both SSIA and IESA are set to collaborate in the field of semiconductors and the larger Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem tsmc .
SSIA Executive Director Ang Wee Seng said on signing the MoU, “Collaborating with IESA is a significant step forward as we harness Singapore’s dynamic electronics and semiconductor ecosystem to develop globally significant products and services smfederation .
“We are confident that by working closely with industry and academia in both countries, we can strengthen our global footprint in the semiconductor sector, including supporting opportunities in India makeinindia ,” he said after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) IESA on 30 July 2024.
IESA’s commitment to enhancing India’s global standing in the ESDM market fieo through strategic partnerships, investments, joint ventures, vocational training and technology collaborations is underscored by its landmark collaboration with SSIA.
IESA Chairman Dr V Veerappan said, “SSIA has long been acknowledged as a unifying voice for Singapore’s semiconductor sector, while IESA’s core values emphasize collaborative efforts to nurture the ESDM ecosystem bse.
“This partnership aims to harness the abundant opportunities in both nations, fostering resilience and competitiveness in electronics manufacturing nse .”
IESA President Ashok Chandak elaborated, “This transformative partnership unites two premier industry bodies, encompassing vast networks of semiconductor companies and experts across both nations hcisingapore.
“It marks a pivotal moment in IESA’s strategy to bolster global cooperation, capitalize on India’s opportunities, and cultivate a flourishing ecosystem .
“We are optimistic that this collaboration will drive talent development, technology transfer, and expand business horizons for both countries,” said Chandak after signing the MoU.
Next, facilitated by IESA, SSIA and Enterprise Singapore, preparation are underway for a business delegation to visit India in August 2024. This initiative aims to deepen collaboration and stimulate innovation within the semiconductor sector.
IESA will actively promote a dynamic ecosystem by hosting regional and national events and increasing awareness of SSIA among its members and affiliates mea .
Additionally, the two organizations will collaborate on conducting a comprehensive joint landscape study covering Singapore and India, identifying potential business opportunities for SMEs in the process commerce .
