Prabhu to focus on early operation at 56 airports
Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has received in-principle approval for setting up of Noida International Greenfield Airport while Techno Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR) and Detailed Project Report (DPR) is expected for Pune Airport.
YEIDA has obtained the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Defence Ministry on 11 January 2018 for the airport at North of Jewar village in Uttar Pradesh.
For Pune Greenfield Airport, the Minister has set a condition that Mahashtra Airport Development Company Ltd (MADC), the project executing agency, will try not to close the existing Pune airport.
It will accordingly take up the matter with Defence Ministry to try to make both the airports available for civil use.
With the grant of site clearance approval, the MADC is expected to proceed with preparation of TEFR and DPR.
Prabhu has stressed the government’s commitment to building airport capacity as part of NABH (NextGen Airports for BHarat) Nirman initiative.
He outlined three key aspects of NABH Nirman: fair and equitable land acquisition; long-term master plan for airport and regional development; and balanced economics for all stakeholders.
Accepting the recommendations made by the steering committee on Greenfield Airports on 8 May 2018, the minister said his focus would be on improving passenger amenities, promoting cargo handling facilities and early operationalisation of 56 new airports. fii-news.com
