SME convention signs 23 agreements

A Digital Trade Desk at the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will be set to promote collaboration between Indian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and SMEs of other countries.
The Desk will be for exchange of data while another mega international event is being planned in a few months, said MSME Ministry secretary Arun Kumar Panda at the close of first International SME Convention on 25 April 2018.
Twenty-three agreements were signed between Indian SMEs and SMEs of UK, Russia, Uzbekistan, Poland, Bhutan, Austria, Czech Republic, Cameroon and Sri Lanka during the convention.
These agreements are in 12 sectors: food processing, agriculture, textiles, defence, ammunition, waste management, dairy products, coal, jewellery, health care and education.
Organised by MSME Ministry in New Delhi, the three-day convention had participation from 160 SMEs from 39 countries.
Delegates discussed issues of international best practices on SME development and cooperation, global business opportunities for SMEs and problems faced by women entrepreneurs.
Poland, with 15 SMEs, had the largest delegation, followed by Uzbekistan with 8 SMEs and Ghana with seven.
India had 400 SMEs at the convention, which Panda said will be made an annual affair with 79 countries already showing interest to participate in the next gathering. fii-news.com
