Maharashtra offers land to Indian Railways factory

Work is in progress on setting up a massive rail coach factory at Latur in Maharashtra to manufacture Electric Multiple Units for suburban trains and coaches for metros.
Work on this project of Indian Railways will be done on high priority with fast track processing of all approvals.
Maharashtra Government has offered several concessions including in land, taxes and etc.
Railways Minister Piyush Goyal and Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has discussed this in Mumbai on 31 Jan 2018.
Marathwada, the region where Latur lies, is amongst the most backward areas of Maharashtra, but the plant will bring prosperity to the areas under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and generate employment to a large number of people.
In addition, it will create an industrial ecosystem in the drought prone region boosting shift from agriculture to industry. fii-news.com
