All necessary project approvals obtained

Work will start in the next three months on interlinking three rivers, Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Minister Nitin Gadkari said.
Addressing the 31st Annual general meeting of The National Water Development Agency Society in New Delhi on 12 September 2017, Gadkari said the projects are the Ken-Betwa Linking Project, Damanganga- Pinjal Link Project and the Par-Tapi-Narmada Link projects.
He said that the three projects are ready with all necessary approvals, and he will hold meetings with the concerned Chief Ministers soon to sort out inter-state issues to the three projects.
Meanwhile, Gadkari has also called for a new comprehensive law to deal with the issue of desilting of rivers.
Addressing the issue of flood management at the meeting, the minister said this new law will be framed in consultation with States.
Measure like inter linking of rivers and construction of check dams should also be given priority to mitigate the flood fury, he said. fii-news.com
