Jaitley lists big ticket infrastructure projects
India has unmet need of about Rs.43 lakh crore (US$646 billion) for investment in infrastructure over the next five years, said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Seventy per cent of this investment will be required in power, roads and urban infrastructure sectors, Jaitley told the second annual meeting of the New Development Bank (NDB) in New Delhi on 1 April 2017.
He listed Smart Cities, renewable energy, urban transport, metro railways, clean coal technology, solid waste management and urban water supply.
India has sought loans amounting to $2 billion for various projects from the NDB, disclosed Jaitley.
“We want to do all this in a cleaner, greener and sustainable way,” added Jaitley
These mega projects offer opportunities for institution like NDB, which has a core mandate of sustainable infrastructure development, he pointed out. fii-news.com
