Projects to cost Rs.3,100 corer with grant of Rs.838 crore
The #Ministry of Food Processing Industries has sanctioned 101 new integrated Cold Chain Projects across India for fruits and vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, marine, poultry, ready to eat/ready to cook sectors.
The 101 projects will see an investment of Rs.3,100 crore on modern infrastructure in the food processing sector. The expected grant-in-aid for the projects is Rs.838 crore.
It has sanctioned 30 Cold Chain Projects in May 2015.
The Ministry said it is focusing on creating Cold Chain infrastructure by strategic planning which eventually builds Cold Chain Grid to help reduce wastage in agri supply chain and will create huge employment opportunities.

The projects will create additional capacity of 2.76 lakh tonne of Cold Storage/Controlled Atmosphere/Frozen Storage, 115 tonne per hour of Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) capacity, 56 lakh litres per day of Milk Processing, 210 tonne per batch of Blast Freezing and 629 Refrigerated/Insulated vehicles, said a release by the #Public Information Bureau on 27 March 2017. fii-news.com
