Katalyst Data Management has acquired the Perth-based oil and gas data management division of SpectrumData Pty Ltd, which will help meet global demand of customers from offices in Perth, Wellington and New Delhi.
SpectrumData is a leading provider of data management, tape transcription and scanning services to the geoscience data industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
Katalyst currently operates subsurface E&P datacenters located in Houston, Denver and Oklahoma City, Calgary and London.
As part of the acquisition, SpectrumData’s geoscience service division will be rebranded KDM SpectrumData.
Katalyst plans to transition KDM SpectrumData’s Perth and Wellington locations into full-service subsurface datacenters in the months ahead. Part of this transition will be implementing iGlass, Katalyst’s signature online data portal, at the Perth and Wellington locations.
“This acquisition marks another milestone in our journey to have a presence in major oil and gas data markets across the globe,” said Katalyst President and CEO Steve Darnell.
“We have made significant investment to expand our service offering in North America and Europe, and we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunities we see in the Asia-Pacific region. Utilizing our proprietary technologies iGlass and SeismicZone, we will be implementing our complete end-to-end data management solution in Perth and Wellington,” he said.
“The fit between Katalyst Data Management and SpectrumData’s oil and gas division is exceptional,” said Guy Holmes, SpectrumData’s Chairman.
“This transaction marries Katalyst’s world leading iGlass technology to SpectrumData’s Asia-Pacific data management client base. From our point of view this is a win-win-win for SpectrumData, Katalyst and the Asia-Pacific oil and gas industry.” After the transaction, Mr. Holmes will manage Katalyst’s Asia-Pacific operations.
Katalyst Data Management provides a complete data management solution assisting oil and gas companies with the difficult challenge of managing the vast amount of subsurface data and information acquired for exploration and production.
