Export incentives sought for apple growers

A PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) delegation from Kashmir Chapter has raised several pressing concerns and submitted proposals for consideration to Javaid Ahmad Dar, Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.

These included:

• Cold storage approvals and inclusion of cold room infrastructure under HADP (Holistic Agriculture Development Program).

• Unchecked import of planting material and its impact on local growers.

• Price escalation in High-Density Apple Plantation Scheme and need for cost rationalization.

• Restrictions on apple imports to safeguard local farmers.

• Export incentives for apple growers to enhance competitiveness.

• Mid-term review of HADP and J&K CIP (Industrial Policy) for necessary interventions.

• Revolving fund for wool procurement to support local artisans.

• Funding for cattle breeding farms and silk-wool cluster parks to boost allied sectors.

• Adoption of PPP mode in government nurseries for better efficiency and outreach.

The delegation was led by PHDCCI Kashmir chapter Chairman Vicky Shaw and Co-Chair Javaid Anim to the meeting which was also attended by EC Members of PHDCCI Bilal Kawoosa, Fayaz Ahamd and Nasir Rather https://sbi.com.in/.

The delegation also apprised the minister about the Poultry Entrepreneurship Training Program, being conducted by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) with support from SIDBI across various districts, highlighting its success in generating rural employment https://www.nseindia.com/.

A key proposal for organizing a flagship Agriculture & Horticulture Exhibition in Kashmir and Jammu, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department and PHDCCI, was presented. The event aims to showcase innovations, promote investment, and facilitate market linkages for local farmers and entrepreneurs https://www.bseindia.com/.

Minister Mir took note of the issues raised and acknowledged their genuineness, assuring the delegation that the concerns would be addressed on priority. He particularly appreciated the proposal for the national-level Agriculture & Horticulture Expo, recognizing its potential to boost the sector’s growth and visibility, PHDCCI said on 11 July.
