Defence Ministeri Rajnath Singh and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath at the valedictory function of the DefExpo2020, in Lucknow on 8 February 2020. Also at the Valedictory Function were the Minister for Industrial Development of Uttar Pradesh, Satish Mahana, the Defence Secretary, Dr. Ajay Kumar and other dignitaries.

The Defence Export Promotion Scheme (DEPC) aims to help indigenous manufacturers to market their products globally and enhance annual defence exports to Rs.35,000 crores by 2025.

This was stated at a seminar by the Directorate General Quality Assurance held on 7 Feb 2020 at DefExpo 2020 held in Lucknow 5-9 Feb 2020.

The seminar also highlighted Rs.400 crore grant under the Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS) which will facilitate in setting up about 6 to 8 state of the art test facilities.

This will provide a major impetus for domestic defence industries as defence testing and certification infrastructure is not available in the country which is necessary requirement for manufacture and production, said Ministry of Defence on 7 Feb 2020.

Among others, the Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti aims at inculcating IP culture in Indian defence manufacturing ecosystem. An Intellectual Property Facilitation Cell (IPFC) has been constituted which within a period of one and half years, has trained more than 15,000 people on IPR and enabled filing of more than 1,000 new IPR applications.

The plan also aims to establish a structure which allows full deployment of novel ideas and innovation for achieving self-dependence in defence sector, said the Ministry. fiinews.com
