Modi presents projects to islanders.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has laid the foundation stone of 50 MW project which will be based on imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Hope Town in South Andaman on 30 Dec 2018.

The Rs.387.80 crore power plant is to be established by wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN).

It would be completed in 18 months, said Power Ministry.

Modi pointed out that Rs.7,000 crore has recently been approved for making the fisheries sector in the country more profitable while fishermen are getting financial assistance for procuring modern boats.

The PM also inaugurated two projects on clean cooking and electric mobility in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

He also distributed Solar PV-based induction cook stoves to households at Chouldari village.

At another event, the Prime Minister flagged off 20 electric vehicles that will be handed over to the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

Among other developments, he laid the Foundation Stone for Shore Protection Work near Mus Jetty and Extension of Campbell Bay Jetty.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister underlined the great natural beauty, culture, tradition and art of the Islands.

Speaking of the family and collective traditions of the Islands, he said this has been a strength of Indian society, over the years.

He said the projects unveiled on 30 Dec 2018 would go a long way in developing sectors such as education, health, employment, skill development, transportation, power, sports and tourism. fiinews.com
