Gurugram to become one of India’s leading GCC destinations, says Varma

India’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) story is entering an exciting new phase with the next wave of investments to be increasingly driven by locations that combine exceptional talent, strong industry ecosystems, world-class infrastructure and progressive policy support, says Nilaya Varma, Global CEO of Singapore-headquartered Primus Partners.

“While traditional destinations will continue to grow, Haryana, and Gurugram in particular, has all the ingredients to become one of India’s leading GCC destinations,” Varma said on 29 July.

While Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune have traditionally led the country’s GCC expansion, multinational enterprises are increasingly exploring destinations that combine world-class talent, strong industrial ecosystems, progressive policy support and global connectivity. Haryana, particularly Gurugram, is emerging as a strong contender in this next wave of GCC investments.

“Over the years, we have partnered with multinational enterprises on their GCC strategy and advisory requirements. Today, we are taking the next step by helping them build, operate and scale these centres from India. Our engagement with Linde-Wiemann is an important milestone in that journey and reflects the growing confidence global enterprises have in Haryana as a strategic destination for future-ready Global Capability Centres.”

Varma shared the market outlook after the launch of the Primus Partners Global Capability Hub, marking the firm’s expansion into GCC Build & Operate services while reflecting the growing maturity of Haryana’s GCC ecosystem.

“With progressive policy support, a strong industrial base, access to skilled talent and increasing multinational interest, Gurugram is well positioned to play a defining role in India’s next phase of GCC growth, with Primus Partners serving as a long-term partner in enabling that transformation,” underlined Varma.

The recently announced Haryana Global Capability Centres (GCC) Policy, 2026 reinforces the State’s vision of becoming a preferred destination for next-generation GCCs. With more than 270 GCCs already operating in Haryana, including several Fortune 200 companies, the policy is expected to attract fresh investments and strengthen the State’s position as a hub for innovation-led, export-oriented services.

Beyond investment, GCCs create high-value employment across technology, engineering, finance, analytics, research and digital functions, while boosting exports and strengthening local innovation ecosystems. They also generate significant demand across commercial real estate, professional services, hospitality, education and urban infrastructure, creating strong multiplier effects for the economy.

Gurugram offers a compelling advantage with its proximity to the National Capital Region, global connectivity, deep engineering and management talent pool, established automotive and manufacturing base, and rapidly growing digital economy. Combined with Haryana’s policy support, these strengths are driving growing interest from multinational enterprises looking to establish or expand their GCC operations.

Primus Partners has observed this shift through its advisory work with multinational enterprises across banking and financial services, retail, automotive, manufacturing and energy. The firm has seen increasing interest in Haryana, especially from automotive companies that have traditionally preferred Bengaluru and Pune but are now evaluating Gurugram as a strategic GCC destination.

As enterprise requirements evolve, organisations are increasingly looking for partners who can not only advise on GCC strategy but also establish, operate and scale these centres.

Reflecting this shift, Primus Partners today announced the launch of its Global Capability Hub in Gurugram, marking its evolution from a GCC advisory firm to an end-to-end GCC Build & Operate partner. The platform will support multinational enterprises across the GCC lifecycle, including strategy, location advisory, establishment, operations, talent, technology and long-term capability building.

The first milestone under this platform is the establishment and operation of a technology-focused Global Capability Centre for Linde-Wiemann, a Germany-headquartered Tier-1 automotive supplier with a strong global presence. Operating from Gurugram, dedicated teams will support Linde-Wiemann’s global operations across ERP, technology, business intelligence, finance, and sales and supply chain functions. Over time, the centre will expand into engineering, design, digital and other specialised capabilities, creating a scalable centre of excellence to support the company’s long-term growth, according to Varma. fiinews.com
