India has installed 8.78 GW nuclear power capacity
Renewable energy installed capacity in the country has increased to 288.58 GW as on 30 June 2026 form 76.38 GW in 2014, the Minister of State for Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik, has said in a written update to the Rajya Sabha on 21 July.
Source-wise installed capacity — Solar power – 162.15 GW; Wind power – 57.44 GW; Bio power – 11.75 GW; Hydropower – 57.24 GW.
So far, a total of 297.36 GW non-fossil fuel sources-based electricity capacity has been installed in the country as on 30 June 2026, he told the house. This includes 288.58 GW renewable energy capacity and 8.78 GW nuclear power capacity.
Since FY 2014 till FY 2026, renewable energy sector in the country has attracted Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of US$45.72 billion (approx.). Additionally, domestic financial institutions (12 Public sector banks, IREDA, PFC, REC, IIFCL, NaBFID and SIDBI) have deployed Rs.12.32 lakh crore towards renewable energy sector during the same period, said the Minister.
