Anthropic expands in India, Qualcomm commit to IndiaAI
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, held separate meetings on 11 Oct with heads of leading technology group, Qualcomm and Anthropic and discussed Indian market offering opportunities to global technologists with skilled and talented pool of young Indians.
PM Modi and Cristiano R. Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, discussed India’s advancements in artificial intelligence, innovation and skilling.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Qualcomm’s commitment towards India’s Semiconductor and AI Missions. He noted that India offers unmatched talent and scale to build technologies that will shape the collective future.
Cristiano R. Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm thanked the Prime Minister for the enriching discussion on strengthening the partnership between Qualcomm and India in support of the IndiaAI and India Semiconductor Missions, as well as the transition to 6G. He highlighted the opportunities to develop an Indian ecosystem across AI smartphones, PCs, smart glasses, automotive, industrial sectors and more.
The Prime Minister discussed with Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, his group’s expansion in India and the growing adoption of its AI tools, including Claude Code, whose use in the country has seen a fivefold increase since June.
PM Modi highlighted India’s vibrant tech ecosystem and the immense potential of its talented youth in advancing human-centric and responsible AI innovation.
He expressed confidence that India’s partnership Anthropic will further strengthen AI capabilities across key sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture in the country.
