13,600 MW nuke capacity being implemented, says Minister

The Government has initiated a process required for enabling large scale participation across the public and private sectors in nuclear power to build a 100-GW power generation ecosystem by 2047 under Nuclear Energy Mission, Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in charge of Department of Atomic Energy, said in a written update to the Lok Sabha on 23 July.

Presently, the nuclear power capacity in the country comprises 24 reactors with a total capacity of 8,780 MW (excluding RAPS-1 (100 MW) under extended shutdown) http://world-nuclear.org.

The Minister also gave an update on 2,000 MW KKNPP-1 & 2 which are operational at the Kudankulam Site.
