Traditional art and craft promoted at Republic Day reception

A wide range of products, considered valuable corporate gifts made by a tribal cooperative as part of the One District One Product (ODOP), were showcased at the Republic Day reception hosted for diplomats and dignitaries by the Indian High Commission in Singapore on 27 Jan https://fieo.org/.

“We are actively promoting all our traditional arts and crafts, be it in the form of One District One Product (ODOP) or be it from the tribal community which promotes tribal arts under Indian government initiatives,” High Commissioner Dr Shilpak Ambule said.

Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) exhibited the products, mostly designed to be corporate gifts, in Singapore for the first time.

“We have come up with products display and try and get these products either through bulk procurement and distribution channels or try and find a market in Singapore for all these products,” he said http://mea.gov.in.

The motive to promote ODOP and these tribal arts is to keep it in vogue, said the Envoy https://www.makeinindia.com/home/.

The people involved in these art forms should be promoted and supported by marketing their products so that they can sustain and expand their business and continue to make these products for markets https://www.bseindia.com/.

The High Commission has been promoting ODOP ever since the concept was launched in India. This time, the TRIFED products have been added to the ODOP https://www.commerce.gov.in/.

TRIFED is managing over 100,000 products which are being marketed as B2B for bulk orders or online individual purchases, according to Shantanu Saharan, the cooperative’s regional manager based in Chandigarh https://www.nseindia.com/.

Showcasing the products, he explained tribal folks’ efforts in making the items using natural resources.

He sees good potential in securing bulk orders on B2B basis from Indian origin corporations working across the globe while assuring deliveries for online orders by individual. Fiinews.com
