Tourist traffic out of India must have doubled in 2023, for it was a good year for the country’s travel agencies, according to Zelam Chaubal, Director of Kesari – MICE Group.
“India is an explosion of travellers,” she said at the Lokmat Global Economic Convention on the aspirations of people to be part of the global tourism economy. We are among the top five tourist generating countries for Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Europe, the US and Australia-New Zealand.”
She estimated 13 million Indians would have travel in 2022, saying it must have doubled in 2023 because that was an excellent year for Indian travel agencies.
For this year, there will be at least a 20 per cent increase in Indians travelling globally, estimated Chaubal, who runs a 40-year-old family-owned travel-MICE group.
“This was post-pandemic. Indian people don’t want to wait after the pandemic.
“Indians are hungry for information and want to see newer places…they are travelling at double speed.”
Chaubal shared the aspirations of economically prospering Indians taking to travel in a big way at the Convention held in Singapore 28 Mar 2024.
In Asia, Singapore is the most loved country by Indians, according to Chaubal, who was one of the business leaders honoured with an Lokmat award.
She also appreciated Lokmat’s initiatives of honouring the Indian business community and society stalwarts on global platforms like Singapore. Fiinews.com
