Implementation of SCM has been extended up to June 2024
Work orders have been issued by 100 Smart Cities in 7,978 projects of which 5,909 projects (74%) have been completed while Rs.73,454 crore has been released for 100 Smart Cities of which Rs.66,023 crore (90%) has been utilized as of 7 July 2023.
This update was given by the Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on 10 Aug 2023.
Various projects being implemented by Bhubaneswar & Rourkela, inter alia, include setting up of Integrated Control & Command Centres (ICCCs), Place-making, Smart Roads, Urban Knowledge Centre, Upgradation of Stadium, Market Area Re-development, etc.

In Bhubaneswar, work on nine projects, costing Rs.607.71, is ongoing while 26 projects, costing Rs.1,552.06 crore, have been completed.
In Rourkela, work on five projects worth Rs.357.62 crore have been ongoing while 59 projects worth Rs.1,155.24 crore have been completed.
The period of implementation of SCM has been extended up to June 2024 and all Smart Cities, including those in Odisha, are expected to complete their projects within the stipulated time, the Minister assured the house. Fiinews.com
