Modi says AAHII to find ‘our own solutions for our own problems’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid a foundation stone for the Rs.546 crore Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII) in Guwahati.
The facilitate will have cutting-edge inventions and R&D in medicine and healthcare, identify the nation’s unique problems related to health and promote the development of new technologies for solving those problems.
“AAHII is envisioned in such a context and will work such that we find our own solutions for our own problems,” said Modi, pointing out that the majority of imported healthcare technologies are not only expensive but are complex to operate in the Indian environment.
He laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation various projects worth more than Rs.3,400 crores in Guwahati on 14 April 2023.
The operationalization of Rs.1,120+ crore AIIMS, Guwahati, will mark a momentous occasion for Assam and the entire North-East region. He had laid the foundation stone for this hospital in May 2017.
AIIMS Guwahati is a state-of-the-art hospital with a capacity of 750 beds including 30 AYUSH beds. This hospital will have an annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students every year along with providing world-class health facilities to the people of the Northeast.
Also dedicated to the nation were three medical colleges viz Nalbari Medical College, Nagaon Medical College and Kokrajhar Medical College. These were built at a cost of about Rs.615 crores, Rs.600 crores and Rs.535 crores, respectively.
Each medical college has an attached 500-bed teaching hospital with OPD/IPD services including emergency services, ICU facilities, OT and diagnostic facilities etc. Each medical college will have an annual intake capacity of 100 MBBS students. fiinews.com
