India aims for self-reliance in warship MRO activities
Crown Group Defence is accelerating the development of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) sector in India, with two of its companies’ signing pacts at the Aero India 2023 held 13-17 Feb 2023.
Crown’s Dynatron Services Pvt Ltd (DSPL), India’s Defence MRO major towards undertaking ship repairs & refits and allied activities as associates for Indian Navy and Coast Guard, has signed a MoU with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) on 16 Feb 2023.
On 15 Feb, Crown’s OSK India Pvt Ltd (OIPL) and Aniba Solution Pvt Ltd (ASPL) signed the MoU to participate in the growing MRO sector.
GRSE and DSPL are jointly partnering to undertake refits & repair of various warships and auxiliaries of the Indian Navy.
“Both partners in this new venture know and understand the needs of the end customers. Therefore, our customers stand to gain maximum out of this partnership,” said Commodore PR Hari, Chairman & Managing Director, GRSE.
“Both GRSE and DSPL have together supported our esteemed Marine Defence customers viz Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard for many decades in the past as common partners of MTU GmBH, a leading and renowned diesel engine manufacturing company of Germany,” he said.
“We are delighted to utilize our respective technical expertise and capabilities to contribute towards the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives,” added Cmde Rakesh Anand (Retd.), Head of Marine Division, Crown Group Defence.
“We are joining hands with GRSE with an aim to demonstrate the commitment of both Crown Group Defence and GRSE towards the Government’s vision of achieving self-reliance, particularly in warship MRO activities,” elaborated Vice Adm Paras Nath (Retd) AVSM, VSM, Group President, Crown Group Defence.
OIPL and ASPL are jointly partnering to undertake servicing of Control System units of Marine Gas Turbines and Gas Turbine Generators and installation of Marine Gas Turbine engines on ships including other areas of cooperation.
The tie-up will help in strengthening and scaling up our capabilities to meet the growing demands for overhauling Gas Turbine control system units for the majority of Gas Turbines of the Indian Navy by innovative solutions at economical prices in a short span of time.
