Energy efficient coastal shipping development through PPP mode
The Ministry of Tourism has allocated Rs.1,742 crore from its Rs.2,400 crore Budget 2023-24 for development of Tourism infrastructure, covering 50 tourist destinations.
The estinations would be developed for providing a wholesome tourism experience providing physical, digital and virtual connectivity, availability of tourist guides and tourist security.
The Ministry has also earmarked an allocation of Rs.229 crore for tourism infrastructure, promotion of North-Eastern States under this year’s Budget allocation.
Presenting the budget in parliament on 1 Feb 2023, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that an App will be developed covering all relevant aspects of tourism.
States will be encouraged to set up Unity Malls in their State Capitals as the most prominent tourism centres to promote ‘One District One Product’, GI products, handicrafts and products of other States.
Further, a viability gap funding to promote coastal shipping has been announced.
Coastal shipping will be promoted as the energy efficient and lower cost mode of transport, both for passengers and freight, through PPP mode, supported with a viability gap funding, the Minister said. fiinews.com
