Gadkari updates Lok Sabha on Bharatmala Pariyojana projects
Thirty-five Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) are to be developed along with highways and expressways to facilitate efficiency in cargo transportation, parliament was updated on 8 Dec 2022.
“These MMLPs would act as major cargo consolidation and distribution hubs,” Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said in a written reply to parliamentarians.
The Ministry has set a target of constructing 12,200 km National Highways during 2022-23, of which 4,766 km has been constructed till November 2022.
The implementation of Bharatmala Pariyojana along with 35 MMLPs in the country is expected to further increase the logistics efficiency, said Gadkari
No proposal has been approved so far to securitise National Highways and Expressways, he added.
Further, contracts for 52 congestions points will be awarded by FY 2024-25 as part of the de-congestion projects under Bharatmala Pariyojana. De-congestion work is in progress on 83 choke points while 56 of these have been completed. fiinews.com
