Proposed 20.5 km elevated stretch will start inside Chennai Port

Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the Rs.5,800 crore Chennai Port to Maduravoyal corridor in Tamil Nadu will be developed in four sections for completion by Dec 2024.

Work on the proposed 20.5 km elevated stretch will start from inside the Chennai Port area and end after the Maduravoyal interchange.

The project will be completed by December 2024 and it will serve as a dedicated freight corridor for Chennai bound port traffic, the Minister tweeted on 3 Oct 2022.

It will also increase the handling capacity of Chennai Port by 48% and subsequently reduce the waiting time at the port by 6 hours. fiinews.com
