NSEFI gets BSW-BMZ support for promoting solar power across India
German Solar Association (BSW) is supporting the Pan-India Solar Rooftop Aware campaign covering 100 cities and towns backed by 40% Government subsidy for each household installation.
The 3-year campaign is led by National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) with the support of BSW and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) under the Sequa KVP Programme which has implemented more than 300 projects in over 80 developing countries since 1991.
Launching the campaign on 5 June 2022, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Bhagwant Khuba said the Government is providing 40% of subsidy for households to install rooftop solar systems.
He sees Tier-2 & Tier-3 cities offering maximum potential and contributing to achieve 500 GW target of non-fossil fuels by 2030.
He also estimated that Karnataka alone has the potential of 1 GW rooftop solar power.
“Rooftop solar provides an opportunity to the common person to make his contribution towards Global Warming & Climate Change,” said Khuba following the campaign launch at Bidar, Karnataka. fiinews.com
