Economic relations are the strongest pillar of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership
India’s National Infrastructure Pipeline has more than 9,000 projects worth US$1.8 trillion which provide many opportunities for India-Japan cooperation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has told business leaders from the two countries during a forum on 20 Mar 2022.
“I hope that Japanese companies will enthusiastically participate in our efforts. And for this, we are also committed to extend all possible support to Japanese companies in India,” he said at the India-Japan Economic Partnership Forum held during the 19-20 Mar 2022 visit by Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
“Progress, prosperity and partnership are at the core of India-Japan relations. The India Japan Business Leaders Forum has an important role to play in taking forward the economic relations of the two countries. For this, I congratulate all of you and extend my best wishes.”
Modi elaborated, “Reforms and our production linked incentive schemes, which are being undertaken widely in India, are creating more positive ecosystems than ever before.
“Our economic relations are the strongest pillar of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.”
In the post-Covid era, for Economic Recovery and Economic Security, the India-Japan Economic Partnership will provide confidence and resilience not only to the two countries, but also to the region and the world, he said.
Further deepening of the India-Japan partnership is not only important for both the countries. This will also promote peace, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and at the entire world level, said Modi.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project is progressing well. Both the countries are working on this with the approach of ‘One Team One Project’. This project is a great example of India-Japan partnership, said Modi, updating Japanese business leaders on the project.
“Today India presents limitless possibilities for “Make in India for the world”. In this context, Japanese companies have been our brand ambassadors for a long time,” said the Prime Minister.
“New dimensions are being added to the partnership between us in technology and innovation sectors. We are committed to provide a conducive environment for Japanese companies in India.
The India-Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership Roadmap launched today (Mar 20) will prove to be an effective mechanism for this.
“Our skills partnership with Japan will also play an effective role in this direction.”
Both India and Japan understand the importance of secure, trusted, predictable and stable energy supply.
