CVPPPL works on 1,000 MW hydro electric project in J&K
The Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy R K Singh has virtually inaugurated the Diversion of Marusudar River of Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project in Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir, saying the Rs.8,212 crore project is essential for grid balancing and generating peak-power.
The Pakal Dul Project will contribute significantly in fulfilling the target of 450 GW renewable energy by 2030, he said, congratulating contractors and engineers working on the development in tough climatic conditions in far flung areas.
He called for expeditious completion of Coffer Dam and Concrete Face Rockfill Dam for overall completion of the project within scheduled time.
The 1,000 MW Pakal Dul Project is being constructed by Chenab Valley Power Projects [P] Ltd (CVPPPL), a joint venture company of NHPC Ltd and JKSPDC (a Government of J&K Enterprise). CVPPPL has been entrusted 3,094 MW Hydro Power Projects for construction in J&K on Marusudar River, a major tributary of Chenab River.
