Framework to move skilled workers from India to Japan
The Union Cabinet was apprised of the Jan 2021-signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on 14 specified industry fields include nursing care, building cleaning, material processing, industrial machinery manufacturing, electric and electronic information, construction, shipbuilding and ship-related industry, automobile maintenance, aviation, lodging, agriculture, fisheries, food and beverages manufacturing and food services industry.
The MoC covers 14 categories of specified skills under which skilled workers from India, who meet the skills requirement and Japanese language tests, would be eligible for employment in Japan on a contractual basis.
Japan would grant these workers the status of Specified Skilled Worker.
This MoC, signed 18 Jan 2021, is for development of a long-term cooperation in the field of Water and Delta management, and Water technology in order to increase the exchange of information, knowledge, technology and scientific allied experience, as well as implementation of joint projects between the two countries.
The MoC will help in achieving water security, improved irrigation facility and sustainability in water resources development, the Cabinet said in a release on 23 Mar 2021.
It is a Basic Framework for Partnership for Proper Operation of the System Pertaining to Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) and will help to promote the movement of skilled workers from India to Japan.
It is also expected that Indian skilled workers who go to Japan under this MoC will acquire new skills while working in Japan. A Joint Working Group comprising officials from both the countries will be constituted in near future to work out operational details and smooth implementation of this programme.
It was signed between Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, and Water and Disaster Management Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan in the field of Water Resources. #skill #technology #partnership #water #manpower /fiinews.com
