Contracts: Rs.11,712cr projects to be awarded in the current FY
Road projects, worth Rs.34,100 crore, are in DPR Stages with completion target set for 2024 in Andhra Pradesh, Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said.
Also, Rs.25,440 crore contracts are under implementation, added Gadkari as he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 16 National Highways projects with a total length of 1,411-km worth Rs.15,592 crore in the state on 15 Oct 2020.
Ongoing progress is averaging 50-60% on Rs.18,100 crore projects.
He said 535-km of projects, costing Rs.11,712 crore, are to be awarded in the current fiscal year. These include 4 projects with 217-km of roads, costing Rs.9,071 crore by NHAI, and 9 projects with road length of 318-km, costing Rs.2,641 crore by MoRTH.
Another 2,371-km of projects costing Rs.34,133 crore are in the DPR stage. These include 10 projects with road length of 713 km at a cost of Rs.19,559 crore by NHAI, 24 projects with road length of 404-km at a cost of Rs.7,004 crore, and 20 projects with road length of 1,254-km at a cost of Rs.7,570 crore by MoRTH.
Furthermore, 5,000-km of National Highways are being developed as a part of Bharatmala Pariyojana in the State.
In addition, 400-km of Port Connectivity Roads will also be developed under Bharatmala Pariyojana which was conceptualized through a scientific study of freight traffic movement between key origin-destination pairs to enable efficient freight and passenger movement.
Elsewhere in the state, the 335-km Anantpur-Amaravati Expressway is being developed as a part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, which is working on 35,000-km National Highways across the country.
The Expressway, costing Rs.20,000 crore, is being developed in 16 packages.
It connects Amaravati, the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh with Anantapuramu of Rayalaseema Region and it provides major connectivity between NH-44 and NH-16 which are a lifeline in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
The 262-km Bangalore–Chennai Expressway is also being developed as a part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana. Three packages, covering 85-km and costing Rs.5,200 crore, are under development in Andhra Pradesh.
Construction is being initiated on another 16 projects of 878-km at, costing Rs.7,585 crore. It includes the construction of Western Side Benz Circle Flyover in the city limits of Vijayawada.
Gadkari noted the State Government’s cooperation in sharing the land acquisition cost for the Amaravati–Anantapur Expressway and called for further cooperation on other projects to help resolve the issues of the Toll Plazas.
Due for completion in 2020-21 are 637-km of projects, costing Rs.8,306 crore.
