Tourism sector wants bailout package
Hotels and restaurants need financial booster to sustain their existence for at least 6-months with finance and loan at special low interest rates to jump re-start their operations.
This called was made by Anil Khaitan, Former President PHDCCI, at a webinar on 25 May 2020 on Road Map for Tourism Industry of J&K Post-COVID-19.
Khaitan also called for Tourism Ministry’s special advertising campaign encouraging people to travel and explore within new SOP and guidelines, reduction in GST rates as now the hotels will have to spend extra for providing medical/hygiene facilities to the staff and guests.
There is need for medical facilities at dedicated government hospitals and clinics for Hotel staff and guests to face any untoward reality, he stressed.
Khaitan suggested that there should be a special certification of Health standards to hotel/restaurants that abide by government/WHO guidelines.

Liquidity is important and so is development of new norms and SOPs for tour operators and hotels and restaurants, he added.
