Pradhan reviews Rs.8,000cr projects
GAIL is expected to double steel procurement for pipeline projects by end of the current financial year, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said after reviewing projects worth Rs.8,000 crore.
GAIL is also processing line pipe tenders of more than Rs.1,000 crore for around one lakh MT steel procurement by September 2020 for progressive supply of 800 km line pipe from domestic bidders.
The Indradhanush Gas Grid Ltd (IGGL) is also expected to double procurement of line pipe steel in the current FY.
It is currently processing tenders of more than Rs.950 crore for around 73,000 MT steel procurement by July, 2020 for progressive supply of 550 km line pipe from domestic bidders.
IGGL will ensure uninterrupted supply of natural gas to all the 8 north-eastern states, accelerate their economic growth and help usher a gas-based economy in India, Pradhan assured.
Among other projects, Indian Oil is implementing 1,450 km long natural gas pipeline project in southern India, at a project cost of Rs.6,025 crore.
Meanwhile, project work along the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga, JHBDPL pipeline, has resumed in full swing post-lockdown and is gearing up to connect Eastern India with the West to Central natural gas pipeline corridor for boosting gas-based economy in the country, the Minister said in an update on 22 May 2020.
Pradhan pitched for complete indigenisation in these projects under the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat or self-reliant initiative in India, saying the doubling of pipeline steel will boost Make in India programme. fiinews.com
