Goyal’s update on rail projects
Contracts have been awarded for redevelopment of Gomtinagar (North Eastern Railway), Anand Vihar (Northern Railway), Bijwasan (Northern Railway) and Chandigarh (Northern Railway) railway stations.
Giving this update to Rajya Sabha on 20 Mar 2020, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said redevelopment is in advanced stage at Gandhinagar (Western Railway) and Habibganj (West Central Railway) railway stations.
These projects fall under “Station Redevelopment” which leverages real estate potential of sparable land and air space in and around the stations, inviting private participation.
The redevelopment of stations is in phases where techno-economic feasibility studies have been conducted. The studies are conducted on rail stations across the country.
Based on the outcome of these feasibility studies, stations are taken up for redevelopment in phases.
