Projects highlights commitment to Paris Accord
India has 34.07 GW of renewable energy under various stages of bidding while 46.69 GW is under various stages of implementation, R.K. Singh, Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy, Power, said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on 17 Mar 2020.
Cumulative renewable energy capacity of 132.15 GW has been installed as on 29 Feb 2020, he said in an update on the renewable sector.
India has undertaken to install at least 40% of its total electricity generation capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030 as part of Intended Nationally Determined Contributions as per the Paris Accord on Climate Change.
The cumulative renewable energy capacity constituted 35.80% of total electricity generation capacity of 369.12 GW installed in the country as on 29 February 2020. fiinews.com
