Indo-Japan nuke talks next month
A delegation led by the Ambassador of Japan Satoshi Suzuki has discussed a wide range of Japan-funded projects in India’s North Eastern Region with the Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh.
The discussion also covered the Indo-Japan Working Group on Nuclear Energy Cooperation which is scheduled to be held next month.
A number of Japanese investments in infrastructure projects in the North Eastern region are underway.
These include the upgrade of 372-km Aizwal-Tuipang Section of NH 54 with which is being done with JICA assistance at a cost of Rs.6,168 crore. The road would provide seamless connectivity to Sittwe port in Mayanmar as part of Government’s Act East Policy.
In the area of forest management, there is Japanese collaboration with the State Governments of Tripura, Sikkim and Nagaland. Soon, this collaboration will be extended to the state of Meghalaya.
Among other issues, mutual collaboration in the areas of bamboo, disaster management, road infrastructure, Guwahati Sewerage project and outer space, was also discussed.
Singh, who is in charge of the North Eastern Region development, new areas of mutual collaboration are being added to it. fiinews.com
