Global Diamond industry to visit Surat
The Rapaport Group, which supports over 20,000 clients in 121 countries, is organizing 2020 Trade Mission to Surat, home to an estimated 500,000 diamond cutters who manufacture over 90% of the world’s polished diamonds.
The group has called on members to participate in the mission which will interact with diamond cutters, dealers and market makers in the world’s largest diamond cutting center 5-10 Jan 2020.
Participants will experience the real diamond market at the source, said Rapaport in a release on 4 Dec 2019.
The mission participants will meet the people behind the diamonds and gain an insider understanding of how the diamond market works.
“We will visit small to medium-size diamond manufacturers as well as better-known large firms,” said Martin Rapaport, Chairman of the Rapaport Group.
“We will visit the Mahidharpura street market and super high-tech Lexus factory in Surat as well as the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai.”
Participants will be able to visit suppliers and purchase diamonds during the trip but are not required to do any buying. The primary purpose of the mission is to create learning opportunities and connections, he said.
“Members of the trade are encouraged to join the Rapaport Trade Mission to Surat. This is an exceptional opportunity to gain personal knowledge about the diamond supply chain and diamond markets,” said Rapaport.
“It is an opportunity to create long-term relationships with suppliers. The diamond trade is not just about diamonds, most importantly, it is about the people behind the diamonds,” he said
