Update on defence orders
Twenty-three contracts for procurement for defence equipment have been signed with US and Israel during 2016-17 to 2018-19, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha on 2 Dec 2019.
The other 35 contracts defence equipment have been procured from countries including Russia, France and United Kingdom during the same period.
Capital procurement of defence equipment is undertaken from various domestic as well as foreign vendors, based on operational requirements of the Armed Forces, the availability or capacity to produce the equipment in India and abroad, to keep the Armed Forces in a state of readiness to meet the entire spectrum of security challenges. fiinews.com
