APSEZ set to receive Chinook helicopters
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has delivered 50 made in United Sates locomotives to Indian Railways. Chinook helicopter delivery next.
Manufactured by GE Electromotive Division, the units were imported through Mundra Port, a first of Indian shipping and logistics company, said APSEZ in a statement on 26 Dec 2018.
The first GE locomotive was import through Mundra in October 2017.
The port is also scheduled to receive first batch of Boeing Chinook helicopters, it added.
The port has played an instrumental role in logistics of weapons for various Metro projects pan-India, such as mining dump truck of 240 MT capacity and heavy-duty air-crane mounted on helicopter, said APSEZ.
APSEZ’s 10 strategically located ports and terminals are: Mundra, Dahej, Kandla and Hazira in Gujarat, Dhamra in Odisha, Mormugao in Goa, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, and Kattupalli and Ennore in Chennai. These ports represent 24% of the country’s total port capacity.
The company is also developing a transhipment port at Vizhinjam in Kerala. fiinews.com
