Noted: Agri waste bio-treatment expertise
Vietnam is looking for transfer of technology from India to strengthen its food processing and crop protection base, said Tran Thanh Nam, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Vietnam is also keen on harnessing India’s strength and developing a mechanism for organic food production.
Speaking at the Vietnam-India Business Forum “New Vision for Agriculture”, Nam noted India’s expertise in bio-treatment of agri waste and development of bio-pesticides. “This could be of great value to the Vietnamese agriculture sector,” he said.
The forum was organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Vietnamese Embassy on 26 Oct 2018.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to India, Pham Sanh Chau, Ambassador of Vietnam to India, pointed out that cooperation between was as deep-rooted as the political relations between the two countries.
Both sides needed to collaborate intensively with exchange of technology to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on agriculture.
India’s agrochemical strengths complement Vietnam’s market opportunities, added R G Agarwal, Chairman – FICCI Sub Committee on Crop Protection Chemicals & Group Chairman, Dhanuka Agritech Ltd.
India is currently the fourth largest producer of agro-chemicals, with the market projected to grow at 8.3% and reach US$8.1 billion by FY-2025.
India is also seeking to pursue greener agrochemicals to reduce environmental impact, an area of mutual interest with Vietnam that offers opportunity for partnership. fiinews.com
