Indian plants get Chiyoda technology

India’s Larsen & Toubro has started August with a series of orders including projects in Algeria, Egypt-Sudan and Morocco.
The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro has won orders worth Rs.1,904 crore across various business segments.
The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) Business of L&T Construction has bagged EPC orders worth Rs.1,723 crores.
The business has won an order in the Kingdom of Morocco for the construction of 400kV and 225kV Transmission Lines to evacuate power from the Midelt solar power station.
The business has bagged another order from Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company for the construction of a 220kV overhead transmission line from Toshka in Egypt.
This will form a crucial link in the Egypt-Sudan electricity interconnection project.
Another order bagged in Algeria is to build a 60/10kV Gas Insulated Substation in Annaba city.
Yet another order from the Nepal Electricity Authority is for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 220kV Substations.
In India, an order has been secured for the construction of 220kV and 132kV Transmission Lines and Substations in Madhya Pradesh on a total turnkey basis under the Green Energy Corridor projects.
Another major order has been won for the establishment of a 400/230kV Gas Insulated Substation in Tamil Nadu.
The business has received an order for urban electrification and sub-transmission works in Jammu and additional orders from ongoing power distribution jobs.
Orders have also been bagged to build grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic systems and solar powered irrigation systems in the states of Bihar and Jharkhand.
Such projects contribute to the development of renewable energy and rural livelihood promotion.

Smart World & Communication Business: The Business has secured an order worth Rs.181 Crore for the implementation of Goa Intelligent City Management System for Panaji City as the Master System Integrator (MSI).
The project scope includes the deployment of smart elements such as Citywide Wi-Fi and Surveillance systems, Solid Waste Management System, Smart Traffic and Smart Parking, Environmental Sensors, Public Address Systems and Variable Message Display boards.
The project also intends to set up a centralized state-of-the-art Integrated Command and Control Centre and Security Operation Centre in the city.
Separately, the business has received two orders from NTPC for setting up Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) systems at its supercritical thermal power plants at Khargone, Madhya Pradesh and Lara, Chhattisgarh. The order is worth Rs.1,080 crore.
Installation of FGD systems in existing and upcoming thermal power plants has been made mandatory by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change ia to curtail SO2 emissions.
Commenting on the FGD orders, Shailendra Roy, CEO & Managing Director, L&T Power and Whole-Time Director, L&T, said, “With stringent pollution control measures in place, coal-fired power plants will play a major role in the country’s energy mix for years to come, and L&T is fully geared to cater to this new market of air pollution control systems.”
L&T has a long-term technical licence agreement with Chiyoda Corporation of Japan for its ‘Chiyoda Thoroughbred 121TM (CT-121TM) FGD technology.
The agreement grants L&T exclusive rights to undertake engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of CT-121TM FGD systems.
The CT-121TM FGD process is a unique technology developed by Chiyoda in which sulphur dioxide is absorbed from flue gas generated by coal-fired, oil-fired and other types of boilers and removed as gypsum.
The Power business of L&T, through its joint venture companies, has also won orders in the domestic and export markets for engineering services and supply of components.
It has also bagged orders worth Rs.1,296 crore for Metallurgical and water projects.
The business has received orders worth Rs. 808 crore.
L&T – MMH continues to strengthen its market presence in Alumina, Steel & product manufacturing sector by securing an order from HINDALCO at Rayagada, Odisha and JSW at Dolvi, Maharashtra.
Add-ons from ongoing jobs continue to exhibit the confidence customers have in L&T’s Metallurgical & Material Handling Business’s EPC capabilities.
Water & Effluent Treatment Business: The Business has won an order worth Rs.488 crore from Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd for the execution of a water supply pipeline from Narayanpur reservoir to Kushtagi in the Krishna basin.
The scope includes supply and laying of water supply pipe lines including all electro mechanical works.
This project aims to augment water requirements for their existing power plant at Bellary. fiinews.com
