A current collaboration is with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), supplying helicopter handling system.
The Scotland-based company has transferred technology to its Indian partner, GRSE, which supplies the TRIGON helicopter handling system used onboard naval and Coast Guard ships.
“Seventy-two per cent of the system is now manufactured in India,” according to MacTaggart Scott International Business Manager Brian J Thomson.
Sixteen of these systems have been ordered by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard so far.
“There are many future prospects for us on heli-handling and we will be working with GRSE to continue to win this business,” he said.
The company is currently in talks on supply of submarine equipment and aircraft lifts.
“Many people know us for engineering big aircraft lifts. The largest lifts produced to date are those on the UK Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers – these are 70t safe working load. They can each lift two strike fighter aircraft together on the platform,” he said.
The company has supplied the two aircraft lifts to Cochin Shipyard Ltd which is building the Inigenous Aircraft Carrier for the Indian Navy. Local companies were employed in the fabrication, assembly and installation of these lifts.
MacTaggart Scott is hoping to supply its systems for the Landing Platform Docks, which will be part of the Indian Navy future fleet.
“We are working globally, supplying aircraft elevators to Spain, Australia and Italy among others,” he said.
