Nagpur to be upgraded to logistics and cargo hub
Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd (MADC) and Singapore’s Changi Airports International Pte Ltd (CAI) will enter into collaboration for a greenfield airport development at Pune.
“I have offered the partnership of Maharashtra government in the new airport at Pune and passenger and cargo airport at Nagpur,” said Maharashtra Chief Minister Davendra Fadnavis on concluding his two-day visit to Singapore on 29 September 2017.
The two companies will also work on the upgrade of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at Nagpur into regional logistics and cargo hub.
MADC and CAI will explore the setting up of Special Purpose Vehicles and further investments in airport projects.
Fadnavis and his delegation has also held discussions with a number of Singapore businesses including Surbana Juorng for the masterplans for Pune and Nagpur cities.
Fadnavis met Liew Mun Leong, chairman of both the Changi Airport Group, parent of CAI, and Surbana Jurong, the master planner of Amaravati capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
“We have called on Surbana Jurong to participate with us in the master planning of the two cities,” Fadnavis told a press conference.
A working group will be set up for these projects to be co-chair by Fadnavis and Minister Iswaran.
