Partnership to use Tata’ connect service.

Alibaba Cloud is expanding its Asian networks including a new data centre in Mumbai and a global partnership with Tata Communications.

The partnership will provide direct access to Alibaba Cloud Express Connect via Tata Communications’ IZOTM Private Connect service.

The cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group has announced plans this week to establish two new data centers in Mumbai and Jakarta during the current fiscal year, ending on March 31, 2018.

“I believe Alibaba Cloud, as the only global cloud services provider originating from Asia, is uniquely positioned with cultural and contextual advantages to provide innovative data intelligence and computing capabilities to customers in this region.

Establishing data centers in India and Indonesia will further strengthen our position in the region and across the globe,” said Simon Hu, Senior Vice President of Alibaba Group and President of Alibaba Cloud.

With the three new data centers planned, including recently announced in Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud will increase its total number of data center locations to 17, covering China, Australia, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

The new Asian data centers will offer a full suite of services, providing the flexibility for enterprises and organizations to build their entire IT infrastructure for business on Alibaba Cloud or run mission-critical and core applications on it.

Alibaba Cloud will significantly increase its computing resources in Asia, allowing greater support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) throughout the region with powerful, scalable, cost-effective and secure cloud capabilities.

Alibaba Cloud will be the first leading global cloud computing company to establish an international cloud data center in Indonesia, significantly enhancing the local IT infrastructure on the back of Alibaba Cloud’s global data center network.

The move responds to Indonesia’s “1,000 Start-ups Movement” initiative launched last year with the aim of nurturing 1,000 ventures by the year 2020, and targeting a cumulative valuation of US$10 billion.

Servicing thousands of customers from India, Alibaba Cloud has partnered with Global Cloud Xchange (GCX), a subsidiary of Reliance Communications to directly access Alibaba Cloud Express Connect via GCX’s CLOUD X Fusion.

Established in September 2009, Alibaba Cloud provides a comprehensive suite of cloud computing services to support participants of Alibaba Group’s online and mobile commerce ecosystem, including sellers, and other third-party customers and businesses. Fii-news.com
